Role Summary

The Cash Application Specialist will be responsible for accurate payment posting, reconciliation, and accounts receivable follow-up. This newly created role will support the team in resolving payment discrepancies, processing write-offs, and ensuring financial transactions are properly recorded. The ideal candidate will have strong healthcare AR experience, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

This is a high-impact role that requires strong analytical skills, comfort with payer communications, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile posted checks with deposits and investigate discrepancies.
• Post payments, debits, and credits based on insurance EOBs.
• Process write-offs in accordance with company policy and regulatory guidelines.
• Investigate payments marked as issued but not posted and resolve variances.
• Collaborate with billing, AR, collections, and finance teams to ensure accurate reconciliation.
• Partner with payer relations to resolve setup and payment issues.
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations.
• Assist with SOP development and special projects as assigned.

Key Requirements

• 5+ years of healthcare AR follow-up and payment posting experience.
• Strong understanding of payer behavior and provider claim processing.
• Experience managing multiple tax IDs and entity structures.
• Proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and XLOOKUP.
• High school diploma or GED required; degree is a plus.
• Experience with ECW (electronic medical records) preferred.
• Familiarity with NetSuite and Provation Apex is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet productivity goals.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
