Environmental Services Supervisors

Penn State's Office of Physical Plant (OPP) is seeking candidates for Environmental Services Supervisors.

This position will be responsible for supervising, administering, and training technical-service employees to ensure that quality custodial cleaning procedures for University facilities are followed.

Please note : This position offers multiple shift options, and shift assignments may vary depending on operational needs and individual availability. Candidates should be flexible and open to working any of the following shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, or holidays as required. Final shift placement will be determined based on departmental needs and candidate availability.

The available shifts are :

First Shift : Monday Friday, 5 : 00 a.m. 1 : 30 p.m.

Second Shift : Monday Friday, 4 : 30 p.m. 1 : 00 a.m.

Third Shift : Sunday Friday, 10 : 00 p.m. 6 : 30 a.m.

Candidates will be considered for all shifts and may be offered a position on any of the above shifts based on staffing requirements. Flexibility and willingness to work a non-traditional schedule are essential.

Key responsibilities include :

Hire, supervise, and evaluate assigned staff and technical service employees.

Handle discipline issues utilizing the Union-University Agreement and human resources procedures and policies.

Represent the University in various meetings such as : unemployment compensation hearings, grievances, and other labor relations issues.

Administer and control assigned budget(s).

Develop and provide data and analytical input to the budgeting and planning process.

Establish cleaning procedures.

Plan work schedules.

Maintain supplies and equipment inventories.

Ensure adequate distribution of materials to job sites.

Inspect and ensure quality and quantity standards are met.

Responsible for conducting employee training needs assessment plans. Schedule and perform required training for assigned employees.

Monitor custodial safety measures ensuring safe and proper working conditions.

Perform safety inspections and ensure the security of physical facilities and assigned buildings.

Recommend and implement injury prevention measures and investigate accidents.

Advise and / or resolve with supervisor / client workflow status or problems on a daily basis.

Utilize various computer programs.

Minimum Education : Associate Degree

Minimum Experience : 4+ years of relevant experience

Equivalency : An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted

Background Checks / Clearances : Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

Salary Range : $46,400.00 - $67,300.00
