Key Responsibilities :
- Patient Care and Documentation :
- Review medical records, verify dialysis orders, and ensure that consent for dialysis is signed and documented.
- Contact nephrologists for changes to orders or when unusual occurrences arise. Obtain prior treatment orders when necessary.
- Administer and document medications in the Medication Administration Record (MAR) and document all nursing care provided.
- Perform histories and physical exams, assess patient health status, and refer patients to appropriate healthcare providers.
- Assist physicians in patient examinations and treatments, and implement physician / dentist orders.
- Dialysis Equipment and Maintenance :
- Supervise and order dialysis supplies and equipment, ensuring proper maintenance and record-keeping.
- Record and report maintenance occurrences and keep a log of water tests and bacteriologic cultures to meet AMI Standards.
- Emergency Care :
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide continuous CPR when required until relieved.
- Patient Education and Safety :
- Teach healthcare information to patients and correctional staff.
- Collect samples, specimens, and cultures per physician orders.
- Adhere to safety and security policies, participate in disaster drills, and follow infection control practices.
- Clinical Skills and Procedures :
- Perform venipuncture and IV therapy, ensuring proper techniques and safety protocols.
- Follow universal precautions and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Collaboration and Reporting :
- Work closely with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Complete and maintain accurate records for medical supplies, equipment, and patient care activities.
Key Qualifications
Education and Licensure :Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.Current, valid state license as a Registered Nurse (RN).Ability to obtain Dialysis certification / licensure in the state of employment (where applicable).Active CPR certification.Knowledge and Skills :Deep understanding of state laws and regulations governing nursing practice.Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies, as assigned.Additional Requirements :Ability to pass a background check, security clearance, and drug screening.YesCare Benefits (For Full-Time Positions)
