Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner

A Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner provides primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic following established standards and practices of the clinic. The position combines the roles of provider, mentor, educator, researcher, and administrator. The PA / NP must honor the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's PA / NP guidelines and ethical standards. The PA / NP must at all times comply with applicable standards and exercise appropriate care to protect confidentiality, privacy, and security of patient protected health information. The employee must perform all other duties as assigned.

Duties & Essential Job Functions While living and demonstrating our Core Values, the PA / NP will :

• Examine and treat patients.
• Instruct and counsel patients. Communicate clearly and effectively with patients and other health-care workers.
• Interpret diagnostic test results including to assess and identify deviations from normal.
• Make and assist with diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
• Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
• Order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
• Prescribe therapy or medication, with physician approval as appropriate.
• Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections (excluding hip joint injections / aspirations), immunizations, suturing and minor / superficial wound care, and infection management.
• Instruct and counsel patients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
• Provide physicians with assistance during medical procedures as needed.
• Visit and observe patients as needed on hospital rounds or house calls, updating charts, ordering therapy, and reporting back to physician.
• Complete documents, charts, triages etc., in accordance with organization's open document policy.
• Commit to thirty-six (36) hours of patient care per week and four (4) hours of administrative time, when there is an adequate number of providers, with the specific schedule to be determined with Medical Director and Practice Manager.
• Satisfy expectation of zero charts overdue >

10 days and no more than 100 at end of month.
