Nationwide Therapy Group is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in East Chicago, Indiana.

Guaranteed Hours : 36

Contract Length : 13 weeks

Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN supervises LPNs, CNAs, and orientees , ensuring compliance with established nursing standards and hospital policies.

Shift & Schedule

  • Shift : Nights (3x12-hour shifts per week)
  • Type : Full-time, contract / travel assignment

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments (physical, emotional, social, and educational).
  • Develop and update individualized nursing care plans and documentation.
  • Administer medications and IVs per physician orders and policies.
  • Manage and troubleshoot ventilators and critical drips (post competency training).
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations (Code Blue, CPR, DNR adherence).
  • Lead interdisciplinary care planning, communication, and reporting.
  • Provide wound care, discharge planning, and patient / family education .
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to LPNs and CNAs , ensuring completion and quality.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and maintain professional licensure and education.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and documentation standards at all times.

    • Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required

    • Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of bedside clinical experience (preferred / highly desired)
