We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator to join our preconstruction team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for dirt and sitework projects. You will analyze project plans, specifications, and scope of work to determine project costs and provide competitive bids. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction practices, cost factors, and industry standards.
Responsibilities :
- Analyze project plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates
- Perform quantity takeoffs and develop material, labor, and equipment cost breakdowns
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and construction efficiencies
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to ensure estimates align with project capabilities and schedules
- Prepare bid packages and support bid submissions for DOTD and private infrastructure projects
- Maintain an organized database of historical costs, unit prices, and vendor information
- Assist in value engineering and change order pricing as needed
- Ensure estimates comply with industry standards and company guidelines
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkthroughs
Requirements :
Minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction or a closely related fieldStrong knowledge of construction means and methods for earthwork, foundations, concrete, and related disciplinesExcellent mathematical and analytical skills with keen attention to detailProficient in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specificationsStrong communication and negotiation skillsProven ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environmentHigh level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential or competitive informationPreferred Qualifications :
Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)Experience with DOTD projects and requirementsFamiliarity with estimating software (such as HCSS HeavyBid, On-Screen Takeoff, or similar tools)Viewpoint VISTA experience is a plusPhysical Demands and Work Environment :
