Job Description
About Us
At Skeletal Dynamics, we design and manufacture innovative implants and instruments for upper extremity surgery. From our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bonita Springs, FL, we specialize in precision 5-axis machining, automation, and ISO 13485–compliant processes, delivering life-changing orthopedic devices with speed, quality, and consistency.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Lead CNC Programmer who combines expert 5-axis programming skill with a drive for automation, standardization, and scalability. This role is not just about cutting code — it’s about building the programming systems, macros, and workflows that make our shop more efficient, compliant, and future-proof.
You will program high-precision medical implants, optimize toolpaths, and introduce automation tools that cut programming time and improve repeatability across families of parts.
Key Responsibilities
Programming & Automation
- Program complex 5-axis components using Fusion 360 and / or Hypermill.
- Develop and implement macro programming at the CAM level to automate repeatable processes.
- Build automation templates (Hypermill process templates, Fusion machining strategies) for medical implants.
- Create and maintain tool libraries, fixture libraries, and setup sheets to drive consistency.
- Continuously refine toolpaths to reduce cycle time, scrap, and variation.
Leadership & Standards
Lead the programming department and own programming priorities.Mentor programmers / operators on best practices, setup efficiency, and CAM automation.Define and enforce programming standards that align with ISO 13485 requirements.Collaborate with engineering on design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and with quality on compliance.Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Champion new software features and CAM automation capabilities.Evaluate and implement new programming methods, tools, and technologies.Drive efficiency through repeatable processes rather than one-off programming.Qualifications
7+ years of 5-axis CNC programming, with at least 2+ years in a lead or supervisory role.Medical device implant programming experience required.Expert-level knowledge of Heidenhain controls.Proficient in Fusion 360 and / or Hypermill, with a strong interest in automation templates.Experience with macro programming.Strong background in tight-tolerance machining.Demonstrated ability to document processes, build setup sheets, and enforce programming standards.Growth mindset — proven track record of learning and adopting new tools. Why Join Us?
