Cx / QAQC Commissioning Specialist (Mechanical & Electrical)

Location : Remote with 100% travel to data center project sites Monday to Friday. Home every weekend.

Compensation : $80,000 – $150,000 (based on experience)

Position Overview

The Cx / QAQC Support Specialist (Mechanical & / or Electrical) is responsible for supporting the commissioning, inspection, and quality assurance of major mechanical and electrical systems for mission-critical data center projects. This role involves planning, executing, and validating commissioning processes to ensure that systems are designed, installed, tested, and operating in compliance with project requirements, specifications, and industry standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data center commissioning and system testing—particularly in electrical infrastructure such as UPS systems, automatic transfer switches (ATS), switchgear, and mechanical support systems —along with excellent coordination and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning and Quality Assurance

Develop and execute commissioning plans and procedures for electrical and mechanical systems, including HVAC, UPS, ATS, switchgear, and control systems.

Perform inspections, pre-functional checks, and functional performance testing (L1–L3).

Verify system performance, integration, and compliance with design and owner requirements.

Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical equipment.

Witness Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and field testing for major equipment.

Documentation and Reporting

Prepare detailed commissioning documentation, including test scripts, checklists, and turnover packages.

Maintain accurate logs of test data, observations, and deficiency tracking.

Generate comprehensive commissioning reports for project stakeholders.

Collaboration and Communication

Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to align on schedules and deliverables.

Participate in site meetings, inspections, and project reviews.

Communicate progress, issues, and recommendations clearly to all team members.

Quality and Compliance

Conduct QAQC inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.

Identify non-conformance issues and recommend corrective measures.

Promote adherence to safety and quality best practices on-site.

System Handover and Training

Support the turnover of systems to operations teams.

Provide technical guidance and training on system operations as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred (or equivalent experience).

2+ years of experience in commissioning or QAQC for data centers or mission-critical facilities.

Strong knowledge of UPS systems, ATS, LV / MV switchgear , HVAC, and control systems.

Familiarity with standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and SMACNA.

Proficient with commissioning and project management software (e.g., CxAlloy, Bluebeam, Procore).

OSHA 10 / 30 and relevant safety training a plus.

Ability to travel extensively and work in active construction environments.
