JOB SUMMARY
The Group Underwriter is responsible for the review and analysis of risk presented on group product platforms. This position involves the use of various pricing models and analysis techniques. This position will work closely with members of the sales team, account services team, product team, operations and legal team.

Review new business RFP’s for various product lines and determine appropriate pricingRequest and review medical records on medically underwritten programsReview sold cases for complete information and verify rates as neededEvaluate renewals and make pricing recommendationsPrepare formal proposals for prospects and renewalsReview policy change requests and perform plan change calculationsComplete financial exhibits and develop group performance reports when requestedWork directly with risk carrier and pricing actuaries on large opportunitiesWork within authority limits and underwriting guidelinesQUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 3 years’ experience related to group underwriting in an insurance environmentUnderstanding of underwriting principles and rating methodologiesAbility to interpret and assess risk within company guidelinesAbility to establish priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyRequires strong mathematical and analytical skillsAdvanced MS Office skills, especially in using Excel, Word, PowerBI and PowerPointPREFERRED SKILLS
