Job Title : Sr. Technical Writer (Manufacturing)
Location : Michigan (Onsite – Local candidates only)
Duration : 6 Months (Potential to Extend)
Requirement : Must be a U.S. or (ITAR / DOD Compliant)
⏰ Schedule : 40 Hours / Week | Minimal Travel
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Technical Writer with a strong background in manufacturing environments . The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to create clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation to support engineers, technicians, and operators. This role will be part of a new manufacturing facility and requires strong collaboration across mechanical, electrical, controls, IT, operations, and facilities teams.
Key Responsibilities
Develop standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance procedures, and training documents .
Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to gather and translate technical information.
Lead and train a small group of junior technical writers.
Coordinate task planning to meet project deadlines.
Provide input on equipment installation, troubleshooting, and qualification.
Work with engineers and vendors to resolve documentation discrepancies.
Ensure all equipment and safety documentation is accurate and up to date.
Support plant safety practices and installation planning.
Requirements
5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing environment .
Associate’s degree required ; Bachelor’s in Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM .
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills with keen attention to detail.
Ability to simplify complex technical data for non-technical audiences.
Proficient with documentation tools (Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, or similar).
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Education
Bachelor’s degree (Technical Writing, Communications, or STEM).
Equivalent experience considered.
