Retail Operations Job
Hannaford Supermarkets, a local market with a history dating back to 1883 in Portland, Maine, is seeking to manage retail operations for the assigned department. The role involves making decisions impacting store associates, merchandise quality, and presentation, and ensuring the highest level of service to customers. The position is to foster a positive and inclusive environment, build associate and customer relations, and promote a strong culture in support of Hannafords strategy.
Key responsibilities include :
- Fostering a positive and inclusive environment to retain associates and customers.
- Ensuring all quality standards are met.
- Managing department operations in accordance with established practices.
- Maintaining the departments appearance and presentation.
- Hiring, training, and developing associates to meet department needs.
- Attaining departmental financial objectives.
- Supervising performance of all assigned department associates.
- Role modeling outstanding friendly customer service.
- Ensuring the maintenance of accurate records of production, shrink, sales, and inventory.
- Providing recognition of accomplishments and offering constructive counseling when necessary.
- Treating all co-workers with fairness, dignity, and respect.
- Ensuring department associates are properly trained by certified trainers.
- Ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed.
- Developing product knowledge in all areas of the assigned department.
- Using RF unit as needed.
- Retrieving and organizing assigned departments product loads.
- Assisting in effectively ordering and maintaining inventory control.
- Conducting performance appraisals on all department associates.
- Maintaining effective work schedules to meet production and customer service standards.
- Understanding and using company tools such as MPP, financial reports, scheduling, ordering, and business information systems.
- Ensuring operational and merchandising standard practices are followed.
- Maintaining solid communication in the department and throughout the organization.
- Observing and ensuring compliance with company sanitation, safety, and food safety standards.
- Understanding the causes and means for resolving and limiting shrink.
- Having total understanding of the departments standard practice manual and program manuals.
- Performing all other duties as assigned.
- Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
- Demonstrated good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes, and resolving grievances.
- Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
- Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
- College degree or equivalent preferred.
- Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a Certified Food Safety Manager or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment.
Physical requirements include :
Ability to use computers and other communication systems required to perform job functions.Lift up to 20 lbs. regularly, including overhead lifting and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.Push / pull up to 40 lbs. regularly.Meet established volume and fixed activity standards.Salary range is between $18.95 - $27.25 per hour.
