Data Specialist
The Data Specialist coordinates the process of collecting, entering, and submitting data. This position may support a department or program and may interact with internal and external resources to read, interpret, and electronically enter data into various applications. This is a part time, 30 hour / week position.
Scope
- Gets insurance authorization for treatment, consults, follow-ups, etc.
- Prepares patient charts, compiles and prints audits, enters orders as required by physicians, and places results in charts.
- Checks accuracy of documentation. Researches, assembles, and verifies patient data.
- Develops positive working relationships. Brings resolution to issues on a timely basis and within policies or established standards. Keeps customer frequently abreast of development and status of issue.
- Facilitates services such as supplies, mail, fax, etc., composes correspondence. Orders office supplies for the department.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competence and qualifications) based on business need.
Qualifications
Required : High School Diploma or GEDComputer literacyTwo (2) years of clerical experience in an accredited hospital or medical facilityComputer experience in data entry and word processingPreferred :Experience with Epic, Solarity, ARIA, and Microsoft Office productsBasic Cardiac Life Support certificationTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Demonstrates knowledge of medical terminology and basic human anatomy. Able to understand and apply information, policies, procedures and skills required by the position. Able to use IST Programs Ability to work nights and / or weekends is required for identified positions.
