Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a PACU position in Hawaii, requiring a valid HI RN license and a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a hospital setting
• Cares for patients in pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery
• Shift lengths vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours across days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Floating required between the ASU and PACU units
• On-call required 0–3 times per month, including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday on-call shifts
• Schedule is variable with no shift preference guarantee
• EMR: Meditech
• Equipment includes PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCDs, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors
• Provides nursing care for post-surgical patients across pre-op, Phase I, and Phase II recovery stages
• Strong critical thinking skills and prior surgical nursing experience are highly valued
• All travelers must report to Employee Health 48–72 hours prior to the assignment start date; travelers should plan to arrive in Hawaii the Thursday before a Monday start to attend a Friday Employee Health appointment
• Flu vaccination may be administered at the Employee Health clearance appointment if needed
• 26-week assignment

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active RN license for the State of Hawaii required by start of assignment
• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience, or 2+ years of critical care RN experience (ER or ICU) in a hospital setting may be accepted as a substitute
• Current AHA certifications required: BLS/BCLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Flu vaccination or a facility-approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start
• Advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and post-anesthesia patient care
• Critical care skills including assessment of incision sites, temperature monitoring, and complication tracking
