RN Manager - Infusion Center

Oncology Nurse Manager

Position Summary

The Oncology Nurse Manager provides leadership and direction for oncology nursing services within the Infusion Center, in collaboration with Cancer Services. This position is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care through the application of the nursing process. The role includes clinical and administrative oversight, staff management, operational leadership, quality improvement, and overall program support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and administrative leadership for the Infusion Center nursing team.
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure safe, efficient, and effective patient care delivery.
  • Develop staffing plans, schedules, and workload assignments to meet patient care needs. Oversees daily fluctuation of assignments and directs resources accordingly.
  • Coordinate and evaluate patient care using evidence-based nursing practices.
  • Partner with Cancer Services leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of oncology programs.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and hospital policies.
  • Monitor and maintain quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Ensures completion of annual nursing education and competency requirements.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate nursing and support staff needs.
  • Promote professional growth through mentoring, coaching, and disciplinary measures, as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to optimize patient and program outcomes.
  • Assist in budget development, financial management, and resource allocation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Wisconsin, or eligibility to obtain.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of oncology nursing experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) preferred.
  • Previous leadership or management experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of oncology nursing, infusion therapy, and patient safety standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) and related healthcare technology.
  • Commitment to compassionate, patient-focused care.
  • Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an outpatient environment with exposure to patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff.
  • Work is performed in area where hazardous chemicals (e.g., chemotherapies) are being administered.
  • Moderate Noise (Ex. : typical hospital outpatient department, waiting area, or patient care area.
