Roles and Responsibilities for Safety Manager
- Be responsible to the President and Director of Operations for all matters pertaining to safety both in the air and on ground.
 - Maintain the company safety program including a safety feedback system that will allow employees to report safety deficiencies, hazards, incidents, etc.
 - Ensure that all company accidents, incidents, and hazards are investigated, and recommendations made to prevent recurrence.
 - Establish, under the direction of the Director of Operations, maintain the emergency readiness plan defining key personnel’s response to all company accidents or incidents (ERP).
 - Provide management with the information required to keep up to date with the legislations, regulations, standards, industry recommended practices (IRP’s) applicable to the tasks being performed within the Company and equipment being used.
 - Maintain the administrative aspects of the Company safety program including :
 
Company Health and Safety Manual, inspection forms, reports, etc.
Conduct safety audits (both maintenance and flight operations) as directed, then complete a report of such audit and submit for review.Complete periodic inspections of the workplace to ensure the condition of equipment, tools, supplies etc. are adequate.Provide workers with adequately stocked Personal Protective Equipment to ensure it is continually available to them, and safety equipment is adequately stocked, in place and maintained in accordance with applicable guidelines.Assist managers and supervisors in all aspects of the Company Safety Program, as they require (i.e. research, interpretation etc.).Ensure the President and managers are aware of when evaluations of workers are due.Track inspections, certifications etc. to ensure they are kept current and up to date.Assist in scheduling workers for recertification of safety training prior to the expiration of their training.The production of safety promotion (i.e. memo, etc.) and ensure the company receives timely notification of safety information.Maintain a library of all safety publications which are believed to promote safety and distribute these and other safety related information to all employees.Act as Chairperson and ensuring regular meetings of the Safety Committee and working groups are held.Representing the Company with external safety organizations and liaise with Government and international agencies on matters affecting safety.Reviewing of the Standard Operating Procedures and recommending changes that may improve safety.Liaison with the Person Responsible for Maintenance (Director of Maintenance, DOM) to ensure that all flight safety requirements are complied with on Company aircraft.
Liaise with Operations to maintain aircraft emergency provisions (i.e. First Aid kits, Emergency kit, etc.) are available and in good condition.Periodic site visits to permanent and temporary base locations to review both site and flight practices and procedures.Liaise with the Person Responsible for Maintenance (DOM) to ensure all facilities and maintenance equipment are inspected and maintained to proper standards.Assess the quality of safety facilities provided by the customer for operations.Act as the Company representative during safety audits by external agents or clients.Wages DOE
