Commensurate with Experience Weekly Pay with Benefit Options Shifts Available : Sunday - Saturday 6 : 00 am - 2 : 00 pm, 2 : 00 pm - 10 : 00 pm
6-month Minimum Contract Assignment with Option to Extend ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS : Performs complex nursing work. This includes routine and emergency care, treatment, and training for people with intellectual disabilities in a residential setting. Work involves providing for the assessment, care and treatment of patients. May supervise the work of others. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Must demonstrate considerable knowledge of nursing rules / regulations, methods, procedures, techniques and human relations.
Must be able to appropriately interact with individuals with developmental disabilities and staff members. Must be able to keep records and make reports.
Must be able to calculate mathematical dosages of medications.
Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency procedures and emergency equipment, i.e., CPR.
Must be able to recognize appropriate Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) procedures.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED :
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact) Current CPR certification Valid Photo ID KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED : Two years' nursing experience preferred. 6 months as an RN preferred. Previous experience working with persons with developmental disabilities preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing procedures and practices and of the Texas Nursing Practice Act, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas.
Ability to identify nursing interventions appropriate to the population served.
Ability to manage and take a leadership role in managing emergencies.
Ability to communicate effectively with other staff members to provide effective clinical supervision or to relay concerns about the patient to other team members.
