Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to oversee electric distribution construction contractors at the regional level. This individual will play a key role in ensuring that construction projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full alignment with operational and strategic goals. The position involves close coordination between internal teams, contractors, and external partners to deliver high-quality, reliable infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage day-to-day activities of contracted electrical distribution crews , ensuring safety and performance standards are met.
Plan, schedule, and monitor construction activities within assigned districts or service areas.
Conduct field inspections, review completed work, and verify quality standards prior to approval.
Collaborate with regional leadership to reconcile completed work against invoices and project documentation.
Ensure system maps, one-line diagrams, and digital records reflect accurate, up-to-date information following construction or maintenance.
Partner with project managers, engineers, and field staff to establish right-of-way access and compliance with permitting requirements.
Facilitate pre-construction meetings , reviewing scope, safety, and performance expectations.
Interpret and enforce company safety protocols, construction standards, and applicable national electrical codes.
Provide oversight of both overhead and underground construction activities for compliance with safety and design criteria.
Identify and escalate potential issues in the inspection process; recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
Serve as a subject matter expert for electrical distribution construction methods and field operations.
Track contractor performance and maintain project metrics to ensure continuous improvement.
Offer technical guidance and daily support to contractor personnel and internal field teams.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong understanding of electrical distribution construction practices , materials, and safety codes.
Proficiency with mapping, documentation, and project tracking systems.
Knowledge of inspection techniques, construction specifications, and underground electrical design.
Familiarity with GIS platforms , project coordination tools, and document management systems.
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work across teams and organizational boundaries.
Capable of performing fieldwork across varied terrain and weather conditions.
Analytical thinker with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving project challenges.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand, kneel, or walk for extended periods on uneven terrain and in inclement weather.
Ability to lift or move materials up to 50 pounds.
Travel to job sites as required; may occasionally work extended hours or weekends.
Qualifications
Associate degree in Engineering Technology , Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
8-10 years of experience in electrical distribution, transmission, or utility construction.
Prior crew leadership or foreman-level experience required.
Working knowledge of project management and mapping software (GIS or equivalent).
Journeyman-level electrical certification preferred.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record required.
