Job Description
Nemours Children's Health is seeking an Outpatient Lab Collection Supervisor to join our team in Wilmington, Delaware.
The Nemours Children's Hospital-Delaware outpatient laboratory provides specialized pediatric specimen collection services. This role's primary responsibility is the supervision of associates providing patient care in the Outpatient Specimen Collection Area, and the extension thereof.
Essential Functions
- Ensure exceptional service delivery to all customers of the Outpatient Specimen Collection Area (OSCA). Customers include (but not limited to) patient, family, and healthcare provider. This includes managing service recovery efforts and managing all aspects of patient satisfaction for OSCA.
- Provide supervision to those who coordinate and provide outpatient phlebotomy service. This includes : oversight of competency and competency assessment, maintaining staff schedules, staff rounding, mentoring and coaching. Ensure Nemours Standards of Behavior are upheld by all associates.
- Utilize the hospital and laboratory information systems for the efficient delivery of outpatient phlebotomy service, troubleshooting issues, and communications regarding laboratory services.
- Collaborate with others in the lab to provide technical support to associates within the Outpatient Specimen Collection area.
- Collaborate in the development and maintenance of procedures and or guides related to the operations of the department.
- Partner with key clinical stakeholders to facilitate specimen collection procedure training for Nemours associates, as well as community partners.
- Utilize the various organizational tools; EMR, hospital and laboratory information systems, data warehouse inquires to assist in the gathering, reporting and distribution of pertinent laboratory data as requested.
- Responsible for participation in departmental and hospital programs for Quality Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services, making recommendations and implementing actions as appropriate and consistent with the goals of Nemours.
- Participates in continuous improvement activities.
- Follows all laboratory and hospital safety policies (including, but not limited to chemical safety, infection control, etc.). Must be able to perform functions using personal protective equipment and barrier protection, such as disposable gloves, laboratory coats, shields, goggles, etc.
- Provide oversight in inventory control, supply ordering, and expiration date monitoring. Assure purchasing within the department remains within budget.
Job Requirements
High School Diploma required. Specialized (1 year of training beyond high school) required.Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years experience required.Experience in outpatient laboratory or clinical laboratory required.Must be able to be on-call and work a demanding schedule.#LI-EP1
