Aviation GSE Mechanic — Deicing & Glycol Recovery Systems (PIT)
Employer : Inland Deicing Services (IDS) — Pittsburgh International Airport
Compensation : $28.00 / hour, full-time
Schedule : Winter Operations (Oct–Apr) : rotating shifts based on operational needs. Shoulder season (May–Sept) : four 10-hour days, Monday–Thursday, 0500–1530.
A day in this role
As the airport comes to life, you’re the reliable expert ensuring IDS deicer trucks, GRV (Glycol Recovery Vehicle) trucks, support vehicles, and ground service equipment are safe, responsive, and ready. You’ll move from diagnostics on a hydraulic issue to electrical troubleshooting on a deicer boom, then perform scheduled inspections, document your work, and keep the operation moving in all conditions. Your craftsmanship keeps winter flights on time and our airline partners confident.

What you’ll take on
- Own local maintenance scheduling and performance to maximize equipment reliability.
- Perform skilled maintenance using recognized procedures and best practices.
- Interpret and apply maintenance manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, schematics, blueprints, and related documents.
- Troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic systems and resolve issues within established timeframes.
- Conduct scheduled and unscheduled inspections; maintain complete, accurate maintenance records.
What you bring
High school diploma or equivalent; age 18+.Ability to speak and hear efficiently; read, write, understand, and carry out instructions in English; able to verbally direct in English.Basic to intermediate computer skills.Own basic tool set : sockets / wrenches up to 1" and up to 1 / 2" drive.Strong time management and organizational skills to juggle multiple priorities.Knowledge of fluid types; diesel-powered machines and tools, including use, repair, and maintenance.Professional discretion with confidential information; tact to work with employees at all levels and client representatives.Comfort with standard and specialty tools plus test equipment (photo tachometer, diagnostic tools / hardware, scanners, meters).Valid driver’s license.Ability to travel to other IDS airport stations when needed (TDY).Work environment
