Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position with a NM or compact license and TNCC certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the Emergency Department of a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital
  • Primarily adult and pediatric acute care patient population with high admission rates and ED holds
  • Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 5
  • Night shifts available (3x12 hours, 19 : 00-07 : 30), with 36 or 48 hour per week contracts
  • Weekend shifts required as needed, including both weekend days and nights
  • Floating to Adult PCUs and ED Holding / Trauma is expected; floating to Peds ED is optional
  • Cerner EMR is used
  • Provide medication administration, including IV medications, and document clinical findings
  • High percentage of ED patients are admitted, with many held in the ED pending bed availability
  • RTO greater than 7 days requires approval; no RTO permitted in the first or last 7 days of the contract
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have 2+ years Level I Trauma ED experience
  • Travelers cannot return as a contractor until 12 months have passed since last employment at this facility
  • Black scrubs required and not provided
  • Comprehensive stroke center work environment
  • Drug screening and compliance onboarding must be completed before assignment start
  • Modules and orientation training provided during the first week
  • Requirements

  • Active NM or compact RN license (can be pending at the time of consideration)
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department RN experience required; candidates with 1.5 years may be reviewed
  • Level I Trauma experience and previous travel experience strongly preferred
  • Current ACLS, BLS, TNCC (must have before consideration), NIHSS (can be pending until compliance), and PALS certifications required
  • COVID vaccination required; religious and medical exemptions accepted with proper documentation
  • No local candidates residing within a 75-mile radius will be considered
  • Driver’s license or written transportation plan required for compliance
