Pay Information

$2,262 to $2,406 per week

About The Position

Unit Details – Neuro ICU (Barrow Neurological Institute)

Facility Overview :

Barrow Neurological Institute — world’s largest neurological disease treatment and research center.

Unit : Neuro ICU

Beds : 32

Ratios : 1 : 2

Certifications Required : BLS, ACLS

EMR : Cerner

Charge Nurse : Yes (non-patient-care role)

Holidays : Integrated into core staff rotation.

Scrub Color : Any color / print (non-offensive); Steel Grey required for Neuro floors.

Telemetry : Phillips monitors

Ventilators : Yes

RT Coverage : 24 / 7

Pharmacy Coverage : 24 / 7

Shift Details : 12-hour shifts (7–7)

May be placed on standby for scheduled shifts.

Job Requirements

General Requirements

Experience Requirements :

Must have Level 1 Trauma experience — no exceptions.

Must have EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience.

No first-time travelers accepted.

Minimum 2 years of ICU experience in a large (450+ bed) facility.

3–6 months of prior travel experience required.

Screening & Testing :

Medical Solutions Pre-Screens : Auto-offer if clinical team recommends.

Dysrhythmia Exam : Must pass prior to accepting offer (max 2 attempts ).

Failure results in DNU for 6 months with CS AZ & Sac Region.

Day 1 Orientation Exam : Pass / fail test — study guide provided with FDI.

SIM Lab (pass / fail) :

Required for all RNs (except NyICU & ED).

Skills tested : Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes .

Failure to maintain sterile field = immediate termination.

NyICU only : Foley insertion.

ED : Foley insertion + port-a-cath access (no central line dressing).

Additional education : Lifts, restraints, wound care (non-graded).

Competency in sterile field is critical — candidates lacking this are not a fit.

Radius Rule : Must live 50+ miles from facility.

Driver’s License is proof of location — must include with submission.

No local rates.

Travel Teams : Must have their own vehicles.

Appearance Requirements :

Natural hair color only.

No facial piercings.

Men must be clean-shaven for N95 fit testing.

Orientation : 2 floor-specific shifts.

Floating :

Required between all ICU and Tele units .

May receive a 4 : 1 Tele patient load when floated.

First to float.

Key Skills :

Strong neuro assessment and ICP monitoring abilities

Experience managing EVDs and neuro-surgical patients
