We are seeking a Carpenter I who will embody the heart and soul of our mission of creating memories worth repeating while bringing families closer together and caring deeply about our brand. This person also brings a spirit of fun, authenticity, collaboration, creativity and genuine hospitality to the lives of our guests.

We seek an individual who can bring the vision of the resorts to life. The right Carpenter I checklist will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.

This role exists to provide support to all Dollywood Company Properties through a variety of tasks in the field of maintenance including the building, repairing and replacing of portions of structures and games. All of this will be done in a manner consistent with the mission, values and operating philosophies and standards of the Dollywood Company.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.

Summary of Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Construct, modify, and repair structural systems comprised of, but not limited to, foundation systems, framing, sheathing, roofing, door and window installation, exterior siding, gypsum board, interior and exterior trim in compliance with Southern Building Codes, OSHA Regulations, and applicable industry standards
  • Utilize basic measurement skills as they pertain to carpentry work, i.e., foundation plans and elevations, and identify materials as provided within blueprints / scale drawings
  • Operate construction equipment needed to perform assigned projects, i.e., bobcat, forklift, manlift, dump trucks, etc.
  • Assist with conducting scheduled maintenance and regulatory inspections
  • Assist with keeping all games and coin operating equipment in working order
  • Maintain records of work completed
  • Perform duties in a safe manner in compliance with manufacturer's specifications, company policies & procedures, applicable regulations, and industry standards
  • Assist others as requested
  • Effectively communicate with others
  • Must work independently as well as in a team setting

Education and Experience Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Proven skills in the construction, repair, restoration, and installation of wood or related materials
  • Minimum of one year work experience that demonstrates successful execution of similar duties and responsibilities in a commercial / industrial environment
  • Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade
  • Knowledge of light plumbing and electrical to support games and coin operated equipment operations
  • Knowledge of all applicable codes, standards, and regulations
  • Must successfully complete a background check including motor vehicle and pre-employment drug screen

  • Able to lift, carry, push and / or pull objects and materials of moderately heavy weight (up to 50 pounds) and occasionally heavier weight (up to 100 pounds with assistance)
  • Able to work at heights up to and more than 150ft
  • Able to operate / drive a motor vehicle
  • Able to endure approved exposure levels to various chemicals found in cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, and lubricants
  • Able to use hand tools, power tools and equipment such as air compressor, skill saw, electric drill, impact wrench, hand wrenches, shovel, etc.
