What you will do
- Develop deep, strategic relationships with key customers and distributors, serving as trusted advisors and aligning their needs with ExxonMobil’s products and solutions
- Conduct sales calls to build relationships, prospect for new customers, and advance opportunities in line with business growth objectives
- Influence and engage with strategic customer portfolios; lead complex commercial negotiations within organizational guidelines
- Create new market demand and business opportunities; manage a robust growth pipeline from identification through commercialization using CRM tools
- Establish and execute strategic account plans for key customers; manage contracts and assess the impact of market fluctuations on agreements
- Ensure sales forecast accuracy and manage volume planning to support optimal supply positioning
- Respond promptly to customer inquiries, issues, and claims; collaborate with marketing, technology, customer service, and supply chain teams to deliver seamless support
- Analyze macro industry and competitive trends; provide insights to inform commercial strategy and broader organizational decision-making
- Serve as the internal voice of the customer, ensuring market‑backed decisions and alignment across cross‑functional teams
- Support Marketing through value‑in‑use assessments to guide new product development and deployment
- Represent ExxonMobil in industry and trade associations, promoting company interests and staying connected to market developments
- Contribute in cross‑functional teams (, Market Segment, Application Development, Pipeline Management) to drive coordinated business results
- Lead capability-building activities for the commercial organization, including coaching, mentoring, and foundational sales skill development
- Identify, develop, and facilitate the deployment of commercial tools, processes, and solutions to strengthen sales effectiveness
- Represent ExxonMobil and its brands to customers, value‑chain partners, and the public at industry events
About you
Minimum Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering (Chemical, Industrial), Chemistry, Business, or related field preferred. Houston based; travel required
- 10+ years’ experience in chemical industry including 4+ years in a Sales Role
- Strong commercial and business acumen, including excellent problem-solving skills
- Exceptional value selling skills and experience with complex commercial structures /value chains
- Demonstrated strategic thinking with the ability to identify best practices and drive change
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively collaborate and network
- Capacity to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong leadership skills, results-oriented with a bias for action, and willingness to work beyond the area of responsibility
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, preferably in chemicals, solvents, or industrial products
- Proven success in distributor/channel sales and national account management
- Strong technical understanding of hydrocarbon fluids applications, solvent systems, and performance considerations
- Proven selling, persuasion, and influence skills
- Proficiency in Salesforce and Microsoft Office Suite
