Description : Registered Respiratory Therapist will be proficient in the following categories as applicable : Medicated Aerosol Therapy, including small volume nebulizers and breath actuated nebulizers. Vibrating mesh nebulizers. Patient education for aerosol, MDI, and DPI therapy, including DPI, MDI, and holding chamber. Pentamidine administration and medication carts. Airway clearance therapy techniques such as clapping, vibration, and directed cough. Positive Expiratory Pressure (PEP) and oscillatory PEP. Hyperinflation therapy including Incentive Spirometry and EZPAP. High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation and Intermittent Percussive Ventilation (IPV). Airway management skills such as suctioning and tracheostomy care. Manual ventilation and intubation assistance. Assisted and mechanical ventilation, including ventilator system checks. CPAP, BiPAP, and NIMV management. Negative Pressure Ventilation initiation and management of NAVA. Surfactant administration and NRP protocol understanding. T-piece ventilation, intubation, blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation. Humidity therapy, including heated humidity and various delivery methods. Upholding clinical practice guidelines for asthma care, cystic fibrosis care, respiratory distress syndrome management, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia prevention. Managing acute chest syndrome care paths and high flow nasal cannula protocols. Conducting respiratory care consultations. Nitric oxide protocol monitoring and management. Pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, and capnography monitoring. Perform overnight or continuous pulse oximetry and capnography studies. Conduct spontaneous breathing trials and transcutaneous CO2 monitoring. Transport patients using high flow nasal cannula and T-piece ventilation. Facilitate MRI and internal transport with assisted ventilation. Respond to neonatal rapid response team calls. Administer inhaled nitric oxide, and perform 2-point calibration and troubleshooting. Utilize sub-ambient oxygen and heliox therapy. Be ready to interface with various medical professionals in critical care settings.
