Climber - Lexington, SC

The Climber is responsible for climbing, pruning, and removing trees. Previous professional experience is required to be considered for this opportunity.

Essential functions include following and helping enforce safe practices and rules, climbing, pruning, and removing trees according to directives, loading and unloading trucks with logs, brush, and debris, working from the ground using various tools, inspecting and ensuring proper working conditions of tools and equipment, safeguarding employees and public from hazards, and performing duties for storm work as needed.

Supervisory responsibilities include having no direct reports.

Experience requirements include prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred; previous climbing experience is preferred. A high school diploma or education equivalent is preferred.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include demonstrating a working knowledge of knots, ropes, and rigging devices used in tree trimming and removal operations, climbing and descending trees using rope and safety saddle, administering emergency rescue techniques, familiarity with electrical hazards and aerial rescue techniques, working and maneuvering at considerable heights under varying and adverse weather conditions, possessing physical strength and agility, good balance, good depth perception, and the ability to hear verbal instructions from a distance, quickly removing oneself from a potential danger area, obtaining and maintaining first-aid certification and CPR, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE), and traveling out of town for storm restoration work when needed.
