Description :

The position involves working in a Medical Intensive Care Unit.

The schedule is 12-hour day shifts, with a commitment to every other weekend.

Travelers may be required to float to various intensive care units within their skill set.

Common diagnoses treated include respiratory issues, sepsis, DKA, gastrointestinal bleeding, general surgery, trauma, and neuro / vascular surgeries.

There are 16 beds in the unit.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 2 : 1 or 3 : 1, depending on patient acuity.

Charting is completed using Cerner.

Navy blue scrubs are required for this position.

Special procedures conducted include CRRT, hypothermia protocol, balloon pump management, and impella procedures at the bedside.
