Responsibilities and Duties
Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage patients within hematology and oncology scope, under physician supervisionPerform arterial puncture and blood gas samplingConduct debridement and provide care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical proceduresImplement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriateInsert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubesOrder and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, IV fluids, EMG, electrocardiogram, and radiologic studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI, bone scan)Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscessesPerform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterizationProvide ambulatory therapeutic infusion, including chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing and administrationAdditional Information
Must hold current NY license as a Physician AssistantRequired certifications : Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)Demonstrate recent competence with at least 10 administrations of chemotherapy / biotherapy in the past 12 monthsBenefits
