Job Description
The Area Health and Safety Manager oversees food safety, work safety, and sustainability compliance across an area of multiple Eataly stores. The Manager ensures that teams are fully versed on state and local rules and regulations as well as Eataly goals and that excellent safety standards are consistently met.
Reports to the Director of People Relations and Compliance.
Partners with the Executive Chef, Facilities Manager, Human Resources, and the Store Director in each store to ensure proper food safety compliance, work safety, and sustainability measuresWorks directly with production employees to troubleshoot and solve food safety issues; implements corrective actions based on solid root cause analysisConducts regular virtual meetings with members of each store’s leadership team for support and guidance related to food safetyMakes regular in-person visits to stores to conduct food safety audits of departments and provide follow-up to local store department managersDevelops relationships with local health departments : keeps current on changes in regulations and standards, communicating updates to restaurants and providing training as needed; follows up on issues identified in health inspections to ensure they are remediated and tests for recurrenceReviews and maintains the area stores’ food safety-related records and documents (e.g., receiving records, HACCP plan)Provides guidance and direction as required by means of store openings, audits, inspections, training, team support, and consultationEnsures compliance with all applicable local and federal regulatory agencies (DOH, FDA, CFIA, OSHA, USDA, Port Authority, etc.)Oversees training and development of store teams, directly and / or indirectly providing coaching, direction, and leadership supportAssists in the development, implementation, and management of effective food safety and work safety programs, ensuring proper programs are in place to meet strategic goals as well as all applicable regulationsPerforms other duties as required or assignedQualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Nutrition, Health and Safety, or a related fieldServ Safe Manager Certificate4 + years of food safety management experienceRestaurant or food retail experienceKnowledge of OSHA and local DOH regulationsProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work independently with minimal direct supervision; high level of self-motivationOutstanding analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication, motivation, and team-building skillsAbility to collaborate with store departments both cross-functionally and vertically to accomplish food safety objectivesJob Requirements
Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hoursAbility to travel as needed for store support across USA and Florida for periods of up to 2 weeks at a timeAdditional Information
