Position Overview :
Join our dedicated team as a Per Diem Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT), where you will play a vital role in providing essential medical care and transport during emergencies. Your expertise will contribute to stabilizing patients and ensuring their safe journey to medical facilities.
Key Responsibilities :
- Respond to emergency calls, assess patients' conditions and determine necessary medical interventions while coordinating with dispatch.
- Safely transport patients, monitoring their condition and delivering care throughout the journey.
- Administer life-saving measures including CPR, bleeding control, and airway management within the New York State Scope of Practice.
- Utilize medical equipment such as defibrillators and oxygen delivery systems effectively.
- Collaborate with paramedics, firefighters, law enforcement, and hospital staff to ensure seamless patient care and accurate injury reporting.
- Maintain detailed patient care reports to document assessments, treatments, and responses.
- Ensure the emergency vehicles and medical equipment are clean and ready for use.
- Interpret technical instructions and calculate necessary values for patient care.
- Transport and maneuver patients in diverse and challenging environments.
- Engage in ongoing education to stay updated on medical protocols and enhance your skills.
- Exhibit composure and professionalism in high-pressure situations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements :
Work in various uncontrolled and potentially hazardous environments, including inclement weather and confined spaces.Maintain physical fitness to lift / move patients and medical equipment safely.Adapt to physical demands of walking, kneeling, climbing, and carrying equipment.Handle medical equipment independently without assistance.Stay focused in emotionally charged and high-stress environments.Required Qualifications :
New York State AEMT CertificationAHA BLS for Healthcare Providers CertificationActive New York State Driver’s LicenseHeavy Work capability, involving lifting and moving substantial weightsPreferred Qualifications :
Completion of Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) or equivalentStrong understanding of medical procedures and emergency care techniquesPay Range : $19.50 - $25.00
