PURPOSE OF POSITION :

Develop leadership skills necessary to have technical oversight within a department to create solutions in multiple areas such as design, development, testing, integration, manufacture, sales, service, quality assurance, and related processes essential in the production of Altec products.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • With guidance from manager and more experienced engineers, directs some engineering decisions for the department
  • Operates with some decision-making latitude within the scope of an assignment
  • Knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures in the engineering field
  • As directed, may assign work to others
  • Utilizes Lean principles to improve our products and processes
  • Manages various sizes of Altec projects and / or act as Team Lead.
  • Additionally, may have 3 or fewer full-time direct reports
  • Fulfills assigned responsibilities in one or more of the following roles

Develop and implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) strategies to improve equipment performance and reduce unplanned downtime.

Analyze failure modes, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to eliminate repetitive equipment failures.

Lead predictive and preventive maintenance programs, including vibration analysis, thermography, lubrication, and oil analysis.

Collaborate with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Create and maintain equipment history, maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.

Support capital projects by providing reliability and maintainability input into equipment design and selection.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, maintenance costs, and asset utilization.

Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED :

  • ABET EAC certified bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Internal candidates - Minimum of four (4) years’ Altec full-time experience, 2 of which must be after earning the Degree in Engineering
  • o Applicable Masters counts as one year of experience.

    o External engineering experience, post engineering degree, counts 1 for 1 towards the experience requirement

  • Coop, Intern, Temp experience does not count towards the requirements
  • External candidates - Minimum four (4) years’ experience in an engineering role after earning the Degree in Engineering
  • o Applicable Masters counts as one year of experience.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work with team members and work with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding and ability in basic engineering practices and principles.
  • Must effectively interact with other associates, departments, operations, distributors, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Basic understanding of business principles and practice
  • Must be confident, dynamic, and successful in working as part of a team
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time, potentially on short notice, which may include flying3+ years of experience in maintenance and reliability engineering within a manufacturing, industrial, or process environment.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability tools such as FMEA, RCA, and RCM.

    Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

    Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive change.

    Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

    Professional certifications such as CMRP (Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) or equivalent preferred
