Duties
You will respond to incident scenes, on and off station, as directed.
You will participate in large scale operations involving several units, some outside the department during surveillance and investigations involving several commands.
You will conduct investigations involving claims for or against the U.S. Government.
You will conduct covert investigations, involving known or suspected violators, in order to obtain information and / or evidence.
You will conduct interviews and interrogation of witnesses and / or suspects.
You will remain on duty or return to duty to conduct investigations.
You will perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
This position is considered Key / Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

Ability to pass an annual prescribed physical examination, to include a Physical Agility Test and possess the ability to distinguish all shades of colors.
Duties often require wearing of a variety of personal protective equipment.
Must qualify on required weapons on a recurring basis (including 9mm handgun M-4 Rifle, 12 gauge shotgun).
Must qualify and maintain certification on the expandable baton, and OC spray.
Required to carry, monitor and communicate via hand-held and mobile radio while on duty.
Obtain U.S. Government emergency vehicle operator's license.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and / or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following :
1) Experience conducting investigations into alleged or suspected violations of criminal laws and military regulations in accordance with laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; 2) Experience responding to crime scenes to collect and preserve evidence; and 3) Experience preparing case records to include investigation findings and recommendations. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and / or unusual duty hours may be required. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) is not authorized. This position requires rotating shift work.
