Overview
Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and a shared passion for gaming. The position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Responsibilities
- Provide best-in-class guest service : greet guests, respond to questions / concerns quickly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, recommend items, and thank guests for shopping.
- Support the shopping environment, visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
- Process guest purchases / returns accurately using POS system, handling transactions with correct changes and receipts while maintaining top guest service.
- Resolve guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as appropriate.
- Promote GameStop guest benefits, including new title reservations, trade-ins, and Pro Rewards programs.
- Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company policies and guidelines.
- Monitor associate performance and provide feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed.
- Provide recognition and feedback to associates; document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
- Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance completion prior to shifts; ensure associates know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
- Schedule store associates to meet staffing needs and ensure guest service levels; supervise staffing for optimal service.
- Approve payroll, manage paid time off, and verify accurate pay for all time worked.
- Maintain clean, organized store areas and ensure fixtures and equipment are in good working order.
- Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ensure daily shipment.
- Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing and report concerns to the Store Manager.
- Support sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.
- Perform stock counts, restock shelves, and ensure products are properly represented and organized.
- Balance and reconcile daily transactions; manage banking procedures and deposits as required.
- Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate issues to management.
- Process defectives / recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and lists.
- Maintain associate and guest safety; report injuries per company guidelines.
- Maintain store records / files and ensure manuals are up to date.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
- Adhere to all company policies, Code of Standards, and safety procedures.
- Open and close procedures as required.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.Must be at least 18 years old.High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and / or management experience preferred.Video game knowledge preferred.Key Skills and Abilities
Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills.Genuine, individualized guest assistance; clear verbal and written communication; bilingual English / Spanish preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and collaboratively.Reliable, trustworthy, and able to work under pressure; strong problem-solving abilities.Proficient with POS systems and basic math; ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays (minimum 3 days / week).Physical ability to stand and move for long periods; lift up to 30 lbs as needed.Benefits
