Job Summary :

School of Information Science College of Communication and Information Lecturer

The School of Information Science in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Instructional Communication with an anticipated start date of either January 1, 2026, or August 15, 2026 depending on the candidate’s availability.

Qualifications & Responsibilities : Duties include teaching four courses per semester. Courses taught may include required courses for undergraduates in composition and communication (CIS 110 Composition and Communication I, CIS 111 Composition and Communication II, CIS 112 Accelerated Composition and Communication) as well as business communication (CIS 300 Strategic and Business and Professional Communication). Each course has a course coordinator who develops the base course syllabus and Canvas shell for use by all instructors. Additionally, ICR has a Program Coordinator who helps support all faculty.

The typical nine-month appointment runs from August 16 to May 15 each year. The initial term for lecturers is for one year. The appointment may be renewed for additional terms based on the program needs, funding ability, and candidate performance. A terminal degree or a master’s degree in Communication or related areas and relevant professional experience are required; college-level teaching experience is preferred.

About the College : The College of Communication and Information comprises two schools (School of Information Science and School of Journalism and Media), two departments (Department of Communication and Department of Integrated Strategic Communication), and interdisciplinary master’s and PhD programs.
