S&T Bank Summer Internship Program
Location: 800 Philadelphia Street, Indiana, PA 15701
Hours: 8:00AM-5:00PM (Additional hours as necessary to meet the objectives of the department)
Function: Works under the direction of department management, in a capacity of departmental backup and support, performing assigned duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position will include rotations within the Credit Administration division including, but not limited to, Commercial Credit Analysis, Business Banking Originations and Portfolio Management, Construction Credit Analysis & Monitoring, Credit Risk Management and Consumer Loan Operations. May include one-day shadowing opportunities in related departments.
- Duties may vary within each individual department but will contribute to the overall success in each one. Intern expected to become familiar with the function and processes of each department.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Critical thinking skills are required.
- Ability to keep organized, maintain accurate notes and manage time appropriately.
- Possess a proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams. Operates PC equipment as needed to process information, prepare reports and perform research.
- A sample of tasks that may be required: Reviewing financial statements, reviewing construction-related documents, analyzing collateral, assisting on loan modifications, and entering financial information into loan system.
- Perform credit analysis to assist underwriters and portfolio managers in analyzing requests.
- Evaluate credit risk and learn how to balance risk vs. asset quality.
- Enters data into spreadsheets and databases to process and prepare reports.
- Collaborates with peers and managers in day-to-day processes.
- May be asked to work on high-priority projects.
- Makes suggestions regarding departmental efficiency.
- Meets with various managers and leadership roles.
- Occasionally travels to various locations; valid driver's license is required.
- Maintains a good working relationship with bank employees.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player to contribute to the success of the department and in turn, the organization.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Education: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent education. In pursuit of a four-year degree in data science, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, finance, accounting, economics, business, or related.
Experience: Up to one-year general experience preferred.
Physical Demands: Use of manual dexterity skills for typing and data entry up to 60% of the business day. Specific vision requirements include close vision of 18"-20" for computer work. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. Occasional travel may be required.
