The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Montana Tech is pleased to announce an opening for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the field of Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science with experience and / or research interests in data science. Montana Technological University, a regionally accredited college in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, primarily offers degrees in the sciences and engineering. The Mathematical Sciences Department offers undergraduate majors in Mathematics (with options in applied mathematics and statistics) and Data Science. The primary duties of the position are to teach courses in statistics, mathematics, and data science, with a normal teaching load of 9 credits per semester. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining an active scholarly agenda, advising Statistics, Mathematics, and Data Science majors, overseeing student research projects, and participating in curriculum redesign.

Duties :

Teach 9 credits per semester of statistics, mathematics, and / or data science courses. Additional responsibilities could include, but are not limited to, advising data science, statistics, or mathematics majors, overseeing student projects, and participating in curriculum redesign.

Required Qualifications :

• PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, or Data Science awarded by August 2026
• Ability to teach a wide variety of mathematics and statistics courses within the current curriculum
• Effective oral and written communication skills
