Job Title : Pediatric Coder

Length : 3-month Contract to hire

Location : Remote – must reside in one of the following states : MD, DC, VA, PA, DE, or FL

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Coder to join our coding team, specializing in general pediatrics services within an urgent care setting. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of coding experience , a strong understanding of Epic systems , and a proven track record in pediatric coding . This role requires an AAPC certification and a commitment to maintaining accuracy and compliance to ensure efficient revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Medical Coding : Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for general pediatric diagnoses and procedures provided in the urgent care setting.
• Documentation Review : Analyze provider documentation to ensure coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory and payer guidelines.
• Compliance : Ensure all coding adheres to applicable standards, including AAPC guidelines, payer-specific rules, and HIPAA regulations.
• Claim Resolution : Identify and resolve coding-related edits or denials in collaboration with billing teams to ensure timely and accurate claims submission.
• System Navigation : Utilize the Epic electronic health record (EHR) system to access documentation, assign codes, and resolve coding queries.
• Provider Communication : Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify documentation and address coding discrepancies.
• Professional Development : Stay informed on changes in coding guidelines, pediatric-specific coding updates, and payer requirements through regular training and certification maintenance.

Required Qualifications

Experience : 5–10 years of medical coding experience, preferably in general pediatrics or urgent care settings.

Hands-on experience with the Epic EHR system is required.

Knowledge and Skills : Strong understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.

Familiarity with pediatric coding guidelines and documentation standards.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze clinical documentation.

Effective communication skills for interacting with providers and resolving issues.

Proficiency in resolving coding edits and contributing to denial prevention strategies.
