Network Records Specialist

Location : Canonsburg, PA

Schedule : Hybrid – Monday & Friday Work from Home; Tuesday through Thursday in office (set weekly schedule)

Position Summary

The Network Records Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and standardized network documentation and data integrity across internal systems. This role ensures that all updates are entered following established best practices and standards so that downstream design and restoration activities can operate efficiently. The position requires exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, and the capacity to work efficiently in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.

Essential Job Functions

  • Interpret design plans and construction drawings to identify relevant information, adjust cable routes, slack, and splice locations, and update system records accordingly.
  • Interact with internal users to determine the best approach for database modifications and ensure accuracy of updates.
  • Manage help desk tickets by reviewing, validating, and modifying records while assessing downstream impacts and collaborating with internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Collaborate with external Dig-Safe agencies to verify data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate updates to state systems.
  • Maintain consistent and high-quality data entry practices to support network design, maintenance, and restoration efforts.

Top Skills Required

  • Proficiency with QGIS and KMZ files (essential).
  • Experience with Adobe (used daily).
  • Visio experience is helpful.
  • Fiber network knowledge or experience with fiber-based systems is required.
  • Experience / Minimum Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in the telecommunications field with data entry or database management responsibilities.
  • Other Skills / Abilities

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, AutoCAD, Visio , and GIS mapping applications (such as MapInfo, OSPI, QGIS, or similar).
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.
  • Knowledge of OSP / ISP fiber environments and relational databases is a plus.
  • Ability to interpret engineering or construction drawings.
