Evaluates nursing interventions by coordinating, delegating and supervising care provided by the healthcare team of licensed nurses, registered nurses, and patient care technicians.\n\nServes as a resource to staff for patient care assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing interventions and facilitates problem resolution through collaboration with unit leadership and other supervisory staff. In collaboration with the immediate leader and other supervisory staff, identifies staff strengths and weaknesses and evaluating staff performance for team members within their span of control.\n\nTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Bachelor's Degree Science of Nursing (BSN) required for all Ochsner Magnet Facilities.\n\nPreferred - Bachelor's degree in nursing.\n\nExperience\n\nRequired – 1 year of relevant experience as a registered nurse\n\nOR\n\n2 years of experience as an LPN in an acute care setting.\n\nPreferred – 2 years of relevant experience as a registered nurse.\n\nCertifications\n\nRequired – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.\n\nKnowledge\n\nSkills and Abilities\n\n(KSAs)\n

• Excellent assessment skills and ability to detect very subtle changes in a patient's condition.\n
• Ability to provide patient and family education.\n
• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medications and their actions, interactions, side effects, and calculations.\n
• Ability to handle end-of-life issues such as when to cease life-prolonging interventions or organ donation decisions.\n
• Ability to be self-directed.\n
• Proficient in indicators of operational success such as unit productivity, expense management, regulatory requirements, and quality indicators.\n
• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.\n
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process.\n
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to routinely manage priorities and projects involving multiple constituencies.\n
• Excellent time management skills and ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.\n

• Provides direct, hands-on care for critically ill or injured patients in pre-and postoperative medical settings.\n
• Assesses the risks and benefits of proposed medical interventions, rendering life-saving treatment in emergency situations.\n
• Organizes, plans, supervises, and provides coordinated patient care within the unit.\n
• Supervises, develops, and evaluates assigned departmental staff nurses and technicians.\n
• Promotes the adoption of nursing protocols and clinical practice guidelines to support evidence-based practice.\n
