A Brief Overview This position is responsible for the scheduling of advanced and day of elective / urgent / emergent surgical procedures. Also performs clerical duties, utilizes computers for entering, processing and acquiring information, compiles next day cases to facilitate daily staff assignments, acts as receptionist liaison with internal and external customers by phone for surgery case scheduling needs, and assists in department activities related to job responsibilities. Employee must be able to successfully demonstrate the staff requirements as specified in the specific Care Center's Scope of Service, and complete the Care Center's specific competencies, and meet / exceed the Care Center's standards as identified in the criteria based performance appraisal.
What you will do
- Provides Scheduling Services :
Schedules all advance surgical procedures, and day of surgery procedures as needed, with physicians, physician's offices, and / or appropriate departments.
Maintains up-to-date computer schedule, calendars for case scheduling purposes for physicians' office, and / or appropriate departments.Complies Surgery Schedule and prepares it for delivery to facilitate staffing assignments.Maintains communications with OR Nurse Manager and his / her designee, anesthesia, as needed, regarding scheduling of surgical procedures.Maintains up-to-date knowledge and application of files, i.e., physician privileging, procedural, and block scheduling.Generates computerized preference cards.Communicates with Center Core technician and Sterile Supply Processing technicians for case equipment / supply needs.Processes admission reports.Enter into computer system, and communicate to appropriate departments.Communicates, coordinates and schedules for the placement of patients as directed.Provides Receptionist Services :Liaison with other departments / services by phone; greets internal and external customers, and ascertains needs; dispenses scheduling information and provides direction as needed.

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) RequiredExperience Qualifications
Minimum of one year relevant experience clerical / secretarial experience RequiredOperating Room experience PreferredSkills and Abilities
