About the Opportunity
We are launching a new ASAM Level 3.7 and 3.5 residential treatment center in Marshall, Missouri, providing 24-hour medically monitored and clinically managed care to adults recovering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The Clinical Supervisor will oversee all clinical services for this high-acuity residential setting, ensuring care is trauma-informed, evidence-based, and compliant with Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) and ASAM standards. This leadership role combines direct supervision, program oversight, and quality assurance—helping to shape the therapeutic foundation and interdisciplinary culture of the center.
Position Overview
The Clinical Supervisor provides clinical leadership and oversight for therapeutic programming, clinical staff, and care coordination in alignment with ASAM 3.7 (medically monitored) and ASAM 3.5 (clinically managed) standards. This position ensures integration between the clinical, medical, and nursing teams while upholding compliance with 9 CSR 30-3.140, DMH, and CARF requirements. The Clinical Supervisor also provides supervision to licensed and unlicensed staff, supports documentation quality, and promotes excellence in client care delivery across all levels of the program.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Supervision :
- Provide clinical supervision and oversight to therapists, counselors, and case managers in accordance with DMH and ASAM standards.
- Facilitate treatment team meetings, case reviews, and interdisciplinary rounds to ensure coordinated care across clinical, medical, and nursing teams.
- Review and approve treatment plans, assessments, and discharge summaries for quality and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure staff deliver care aligned with trauma-informed, evidence-based, and culturally competent practices.
- Mentor and coach staff in clinical interventions, documentation, and client engagement.
- Serve as clinical lead during leadership absences or emergencies.
- Program Development & Implementation :
- Support the development and continuous improvement of ASAM 3.7 / 3.5 programming, including detoxification, stabilization, and behavioral therapy integration.
- Collaborate with Medical Director, Director of Nursing, and Executive Director to ensure the clinical program supports medical and operational needs.
- Assist in developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and workflows consistent with ASAM and DMH standards.
- Help design clinical schedules, group curricula, and individualized treatment pathways.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance :
- Ensure compliance with 9 CSR 30-3.140, 9 CSR 30-3.100, and ASAM level-specific documentation requirements.
- Conduct chart reviews and audits to monitor quality, timeliness, and accuracy of clinical documentation.
- Participate in licensure and accreditation preparation, including DMH and CARF surveys.
- Track and report clinical performance data for quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain supervision logs, training records, and clinical performance evaluations.
- Client Care & Collaboration :
- Provide direct client services when appropriate, including individual, family, and group sessions.
- Oversee clinical risk assessment, crisis intervention, and safety planning in collaboration with nursing staff.
- Ensure coordination between clinical, nursing, and peer support staff to promote holistic, person-centered care.
- Foster a recovery-oriented environment that emphasizes dignity, empowerment, and accountability.
- Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities :
- Participate in leadership and operations meetings to ensure alignment between clinical and organizational goals.
- Contribute to staff onboarding, performance evaluation, and continuing education initiatives.
- Support compliance reporting, data tracking, and policy development.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, transparency, and ethical care.
Qualifications
Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related behavioral health field required.Must hold active Missouri licensure as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or equivalent (supervisor credentials preferred).Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment, with at least 1 year of supervisory experience.Strong knowledge of ASAM 3.5 / 3.7 levels of care, detox and stabilization practices, and DMH licensing standards.Demonstrated experience with clinical supervision, documentation review, and quality assurance processes.Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.Must pass background check and drug screening per DMH requirements.Preferred Experience
Experience leading teams in residential, detox, or inpatient behavioral health settings.Familiarity with CARF or Joint Commission accreditation processes.Experience in program start-up, licensure preparation, or clinical policy development.Working knowledge of trauma-informed, CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing techniques.Schedule
Full-time, on-site leadership role. Flexibility required for evening, weekend, or on-call coverage to support 24-hour operations.
