Job Summary
- In this role, you will plan, develop, design, coordinate, and review architectural work on large projects with unique requirements. You will prepare discipline estimates and work plans, review and approve design documents, interpret regulations, and assist with performance reporting. Your recommendations for resolving complex issues will help ensure client satisfaction with a project's architectural aspects.
- In this role as Senior Architect, you will support the design for the project. This will entail originating / checking specifications, building code analyses, material requisitions, and technical studies or reports. Additionally, checking design drawings and review and coordination of vendor information and leading technical discussions and constructability reviews.
Major Responsibilities :
Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the architectural work to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modificationsAnalyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutionsAnalyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and / or difficult coordination requirementsPrepares or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change ordersPrepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposalsPrepares letters to vendors and clientsPlans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendationsCoordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groupsPrepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendationsWhen delegated, provides guidance to other architectural personnel for specific tasks or project-subgroupsEvaluates, selects, and applies standard Architectural methods, techniques, procedures, and criteria, using independent judgement in making adaptations and modificationsDesigns facility layouts, and architectural detailsPerforms building code analyses and compliance, 3D modeling and renderingsCoordinates work and collaborates with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and constructionAssists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs for proposals, forecasts, and change ordersCoordinates architectural efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groupsPrepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, renderings, reports, or proposalsProvides technical assistance to other Architectural personnel and interacts with project functions, the customer, and regulatory agency personnel in the resolution of complex regulatory issues and industry codes and standardsAssist in constructability reviewsPrepares project designs and plans using 3D modeling softwareSupport construction by dispositioning field change requests and nonconformance reportsAct as a mentor or coach for subordinate architects and designersLead and / or participate in technical discussions with client, suppliers, construction, etc.Education and Experience Requirements :
Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge and Skills :
Minimum qualifications :
Prior experience in facility design / layout and details, building code analyses, Revit modeling and renderingsExperience with CADD applications, such as RevitExperience with Microsoft Word and ExcelThorough knowledge of engineering deliverables, such as drawings, specifications, and material requisitions and construction methodsUnderstands work processes of other disciplines and departments on projectsAbility to express technical issues in a clear and concise manner, both written and verballyAbility to resolve design issues with subordinates, suppliers, other engineering disciplines, construction, and the clientPreferred Qualifications :
Master's degree in ArchitectureRegistered ArchitectPrior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of DefenseExperience with procurement automation toolsThorough knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntactDesign experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide
