Job Description :

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our team at MyMichigan Health in Sault Ste. Marie. This temporary position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic operating room environment, supporting surgical teams in delivering exceptional patient care.

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, ensuring all supplies and equipment are available and functional, and supporting surgeons throughout their procedures. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth, efficient surgeries and uphold the highest standards of sterility and safety.

Key Responsibilities :

Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of surgical procedures and effectively troubleshoot issues during surgeries. Verify items on the physician’s preference card and ensure all supplies are accurately billed. (30%)

Properly assemble, sterilize, and maintain surgical equipment and supplies, ensuring everything is functional and ready for use. (30%)

Maintain a sterile environment by monitoring the sterile field, recognizing and addressing breaches in technique promptly. Prepare and set up the sterile field with instruments efficiently. (30%)

Accurately track and document medications, sponges, sharps, and instruments used during procedures, adhering to all policies and safety protocols. (10%)

What You Bring :

Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification from an accredited organization.

Valid license to practice as a surgical technologist, if applicable in your state or facility.

Proven knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and safety standards.

Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure environments, demonstrating attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.

Strong communication skills and team-oriented attitude.

Preferred Education & Experience :

Completion of a Surgical Technology program accredited by a recognized accrediting body.

Minimum of 1-2 years of surgical technologist experience in an operating room setting.

Experience working in a hospital environment, ideally within diverse surgical specialties.
