Transport Engineer
Location : Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
Submarket : (Bedminster, New Jersey) Tri-State Area
Position Overview
The Transport Engineer is responsible for providing end-to-end technical oversight of transport network design, equipment configuration, and IP assignments in support of 4G, 5G, and C-Band network expansion initiatives. This role involves creating and managing configurations for Samsung and Nokia transport equipment, ensuring network readiness for integrations, activations, and bandwidth upgrades.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement transport network configurations and IP assignments supporting 5G and C-Band growth initiatives.
- Generate and manage equipment configuration files using vendor-specific tools (e.g., Nokia Service Portal).
- Develop router configurations for multiple transport solutions including Dark Fiber, Lit E-Line, and third-party fiber circuits.
- Support the design, acquisition, and deployment of network infrastructure such as DWDM and SONET optical transport systems.
- Create and maintain documentation within the Granite / CND databases for transport equipment and network design paths.
- Manage C-Band–related configuration and IP tasks, including LS3 / LS6 router configurations, Conquest IP assignments, and bandwidth upgrade configurations.
- Perform Fuze SPM updates to ensure full visibility of transport progress across teams.
- Collaborate with Network Planning, Network Assurance, and other cross-functional teams to ensure infrastructure growth aligns with business objectives.
- Provide technical expertise, troubleshooting support, and project management for transport engineering initiatives.
Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor's degree or three or more years of relevant work experience.Working knowledge of the Granite / CND database.Familiarity with Samsung and Nokia Transport and RAN equipment.Preferred :
Bachelor's degree in technical discipline (Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field).Experience in cellular or telecommunications network transport engineering.Advanced knowledge of CWDM / DWDM Optical Transport systems (e.g., Ciena, Alcatel-Lucent).Familiarity with Dark Fiber vendors, their standards, and network maps.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.Excellent organizational, project management, and communication abilities.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Detail-oriented, highly productive, and adaptable to emerging technologies.
