Job Summary :

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of construction accounting, including Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, and financial reporting. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of construction financial management and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers and executives.

Key Responsibilities :

WIP & Job Costing : Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports to ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking. Maintain detailed job cost reports and ensure costs are allocated correctly.

Financial Reporting : Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards.

General Ledger & Reconciliations : Manage the general ledger, reconcile accounts, and ensure timely and accurate financial close processes.

Budgeting & Forecasting : Work with project managers to develop budgets, monitor project costs, and provide variance analysis.

Billing & Accounts Payable / Receivable : Ensure accurate progress billing, subcontractor payments, and collections to maintain cash flow.

Compliance & Audits : Support financial audits, tax filings, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

Process Improvement : Identify opportunities to enhance accounting processes, improve reporting accuracy, and implement best practices.

Qualifications & Experience :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA is a plus.

5+ years of construction accounting experience, preferably in general contracting.

Strong knowledge of WIP reports, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 (Timberline), Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks).

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling).

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to communicate financial data effectively.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project managers and senior leadership.
