Systems Development Engineer, Kuiper Enterprise Technology-Low Earth Orbit Satellites

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Kuiper Productivity Engineering (KPE) is seeking a motivated and autonomous builder to deliver results to our customers. This is a hands-on position where your daily activities will range from strategic planning to new system development to supporting the customers that depend on our services. Deliver consistent, well-defined results in an agile systems development workflow. To succeed in this role, you will deliver reliable, scalable, controlled working environments built on AWS.

Key job responsibilities

• Manage and maintain Kuiper's SAP Infrastructure, focus area supporting printing (queues, networking, static / mobile)
• Collaborate directly with customers to understand their unique use cases and implement tailored solutions
• Implement and improve observability measures across the team's infrastructure
• Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for all managed systems
• Apply DevOps best practices to improve system reliability, scalability, and security
• Troubleshoot complex issues across various platforms and services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure improvements with business needs
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in system administration and DevOps
• Document processes, configurations, and system architectures
• Mentor junior team members in system administration and DevOps practices
• Participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24 / 7 system availability and support

A day in the life

In this role, you will function as a DevOps Engineer. You will operate and support the team's services, as well as developing automation for upgrades / patching / testing, and enhance observability of the systems. You will work with stakeholders and senior engineers to design and develop custom solutions and integrations between tools and other services in a secure manner.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
