American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neonatal ICU (NICU) night shift position at a Level 2 unit, requiring a CO or compact RN license, BLS, and NRP certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a Level 2 NICU within an acute care hospital settingUnit consists of 6 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 1-3Common patient cases include hypoglycemia, IV antibiotics, mild respiratory distress, phototherapy, prematurity with feeding / growth concerns, and neonatal withdrawalNICU RNs attend both C-sections and vaginal deliveries for neonatal careMay occasionally care for stable post-partum mothers and babies, with training provided as neededCharting is completed using Epic EMR; experience preferredNight shift position with 12-hour shifts (7pm-7am)Schedule is set by leadership for 6 weeks at a time; flexibility to fill scheduling gaps requiredWeekend rotation includes 6-9 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduleHoliday coverage may be required as part of the rotationOrientation includes 1-3 shifts with a preceptorOccasional call for low censusProvided blue hospital scrubs must be wornNICU RNs are responsible for managing care of critically ill and stable newborns from delivery through dischargeMain duties include monitoring vital signs, administering medications, providing specialized interventions, and supporting infant feeding and growthRequired to attend high-risk deliveries to provide immediate neonatal assessment and interventionUnit provides training for caring for stable post-partum mothers and infants as neededFloat within the designated zone may be required per facility policy; ensure housing allows complianceRTO must be submitted before starting assignmentFirst-time travelers may be consideredTesting and training modules are required as part of orientationRare call requirements are possible during periods of low census\n \n Requirements\n
Active CO or compact RN license required at time of consideration; no pending licenses acceptedCurrent BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications are required; no pending certifications acceptedMinimum of 2 years of NICU nursing experience requiredMust submit a copy of driver’s licenseReferences required : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference from the past 3 years, including dates of employment and rehire eligibilityMust reside at least 60 miles from the facility as determined by permanent address on driver’s licenseWillingness to care for stable post-partum mothers and babies if neededNo prior direct employment with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year\n Benefits\n
