A Typical Day : At H&R Block, our Tax Advisors are trusted financial partners who guide clients through their tax journey with empathy, professionalism, and integrity. In this consultative role, you will work closely with a Client Care Specialist, who ensures clients are fully prepared for their appointments by gathering documents, explaining the process, and setting expectations. Together, you’ll create a seamless and reassuring experience that leaves clients feeling confident, informed, and cared for.

You’ll deliver accurate, personalized tax advice while building long-term relationships rooted in trust. Your ability to simplify complex tax topics, embrace technology, and adapt to each client’s unique needs will be key to your success. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on making a meaningful impact in people’s lives through expert guidance and compassionate service.

What you'll bring to the team... : Take a consultative approach by identifying potential tax savings, planning for the future, and informing clients about available H&R Block products and services that may assist with their financial objectives. Present complex tax concepts in clear and straightforward terms so that clients have the necessary information.

Establish rapport and trust with clients by consistently exhibiting empathy, active listening, and a sincere commitment to their financial wellbeing. Demonstrate adaptability to diverse client personalities and financial circumstances while upholding high standards of professionalism.

Review and complete accurate tax returns for individuals and small businesses in compliance with IRS regulations and H&R Block standards.

Conduct thorough client interviewsto understand their financial situation, life changes, and tax implications.

Offer ethical, credible advice regardless of client suggestions, and always handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.

Keep up to date with tax laws, tools, and technology for accurate service. Pursue ongoing training to improve tax expertise, customer service, and tech skills.

Use H&R Block’s digital tools and platforms confidently to streamline the tax preparation process and enhance client experience.

Foster a positive team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting peers, and collaborating with staff to continuously enhance client experience and achieve office goals

What You’ll Bring to the Role…

Strong understanding of individual tax return preparationand relevant IRS regulations with minimum of 2 years tax experience.

Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment, Income Tax Course or Equivalent and Tax Accountant Assessment 1

Exceptional interpersonal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax topics in simple, client-friendly language, assess individual needs through consultative dialogue, and build trusted relationships

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during tax season

Ability to collaborate effectively with Client Care Specialists and other team members

Demonstrated critical thinking skills

Capable to handle multiple tasks and project simultaneously

Expert Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

High Level confidence in leveraging technology

High school diploma or equivalent

It would be even better if you also had... : Enrolled Agent or circular 230 certified

Ability to serve simple to complex tax clients

Collaboration tools such as Teams, customer relationship management tools

Bachelors degree or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience
