General Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Director, assures that all services provided to clients and families are being implemented through a client driven wellness and recovery model that is strength based, culturally relevant, trauma informed, consumer driven and outcome based. Clinical Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily clinical activities of the Behavioral Health (mental health, substance abuse, special education) program. Clinical Supervisor provides clinical and administrative oversight on intake and assignment, eligibility screening, assessment, individual and family therapy, crisis intervention, psychiatric evaluations, medication monitoring, rehabilitation, case management services, utilization management and quality assurance. Oversees, coordinates, develops, and evaluates the programs overall effectiveness to ensure its consistency with the agency's purpose, approach, policies and procedures, compliance with contractual requirements and overall "best practices" utilizing evidenced based practices as the preferred teaching modality.

Specific Activities

  • Assures that the agency consistently provides high quality, professional counseling and psychotherapy services, maintains appropriate documentation, stays current on research and developments in the field, and disseminates "best practice" information to the clinical staff as appropriate.
  • Provides clinical and administrative supervision to behavioral health trainees, interns, and licensed staff, including orientation, individual, family, and group supervision and evaluation of performance.
  • Experience working with the needs of Special Education population and their families.
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring, training and scheduling of clinicians.
  • Designs and supervises behavior analytic interventions and is able to effectively develop and implement appropriate assessment and intervention methods for use in unfamiliar situations and for a range of cases
  • Engages in the specific and comprehensive use of principles of learning, including operant and respondent learning, in order to address behavioral needs of widely varying individuals in diverse settings
  • Builds the skills and achievements of children in school settings; enhances the development, abilities, and choices of children and adults with different kinds of disabilities; and can conduct descriptive and systematic (e.g., analogue) behavioral assessments, including functional analyses, providing behavior analytic interpretations of the results.
  • Ensures quality assurance through direct monitoring of clinicians, client satisfaction surveys, chart review, peer review and related activities to insure quality of services.
  • Responsible for contract compliance, reporting, goals and objectives, quality assurance system, charting, billing and documentation.
  • Engages in component and program development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Responsible for the training and compliance of HIPPA laws.
  • Contribute and/or develops client-sensitive policies and procedures supporting the delivery of programs and services.
  • Under the direction of the Behavioral Health Director, coordinates or provides substance abuse and mental health services training, and other related staff development activities.
  • In collaboration with Programs Manager, assure coordination and collaboration among all programs and services, and provide support to an integrated case-management approach to client services.
  • Participates in and facilitates agency and component meetings.
  • Stays informed of and disseminates to staff information related to the legal and ethical issues involved in the counseling and psychiatric field.
  • Attend required meetings and training as appropriate.
  • Participates in other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Behavioral Health Program Supervisor or the Director of Behavioral Health Programs, and using a wide variety of counseling modalities, Behavioral Health Professionals exercise sound judgment in the treatment of children, youth, families, individuals and groups. The professional is expected to function as part of a multi-disciplinary team, while making appropriate independent decisions for the benefit of the client(s). The clinician works in a culturally sensitive manner and abides by the legal and ethical standards of the profession.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conducts Behavioral Health Assessments with an emphasis on educationally related impairments.
  • Develops and implements Treatment Plans.
  • Provides Case coordination with other mental health professionals including psychiatrists, primary care physicians, psychologists, IEP coordinators, schools, social workers, etc.
  • Provides crisis management consultation and education.
  • Meet minimal productivity and caseload standards dictated by the contract
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to develop appropriate intervention and support the delivery of behavioral health and support services.
  • Participates in the Utilization Management/Group Supervision weekly meetings.
  • Participates in individual weekly supervision.
  • Participation in quality assurance review boards and complete necessary compliance issues.
  • Provide individual, family and group counseling.
  • Conducts outreach services.
  • Collaborates with law enforcement, schools, other mental health agencies and other community based agencies.
  • Maintain Administrative duties, including contract compliance.
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with referral sources.
  • Comply with all documentation requirements dictated by contract.
  • Provides all services in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Attend required Continuing Education and Contract Requirements
  • Completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualification/ Requirements

MA degree in social work, counseling, or psychology. Required state-licensed LCSW, LPCC, or LMFT licensed for a minimum of two (2) years and completion of required Clinical Supervision Certification per BBS. A minimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience is required with a strong background in direct services and management. Must possess the ability to make sound clinical decisions independently. Must be able to apply clinical judgment, ethics and accountability to formulate best practices in quality of care. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledgeable of child development issues, at-risk youth issues, special education and evidenced based practices. Compatibility with agency purpose, goals, philosophy and approach.

Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be exposed in an extremely stressful environment where there are considerable mental and emotional demands. Travel is required to attend meetings and trainings to multiple work sites using employee personal vehicle. Employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The employee will be required to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer, telephone, and fax machine.
