American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring high acuity L&D and Level 3 NICU experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a hospital Labor & Delivery unit with 10 L&D beds, 4 OB ED triage beds, and 4 antepartum roomsCare for all types of pregnant patients, including high-risk and low-intervention laboring casesUnit supports antepartum, L&D, OB triage, postpartum / couplet care, and infantsPatient ratios include 1 : 3 antepartum, 1 : 2 inactive labor, 1 : 1 active labor, and 1 : 3 couplets for postpartum careMust be comfortable working both day and night 12-hour shifts per contract needsRequired to provide postpartum / couplet care during contractEpic EMR is usedEvery other weekend requiredNo call requiredHolidays required as neededNo local travelers accepted within a 100-mile radiusResponsible for care of high-risk and low-risk laboring patients, as well as antepartum, OB triage, postpartum / couplet care, and infantsOrientation includes 4 days with a preceptor (3 in L&D, 1 in postpartum)Unit is supported by a secretary, scrub tech, charge nurse, VAT team, RT, 24 / 7 OB physician team, and anesthesia / CRNAScrub color is cobalt blue and provided by the hospitalFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyFree parking available onsiteAll time off requests require manager approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active South Dakota or compact RN license requiredCurrent BLS and NRP certifications requiredMinimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in a Level 3 or higher L&D unitExperience managing high-acuity labor patients including preeclampsia, preterm labor, and antepartum patients less than 35 weeks gestationMust demonstrate competency with IV starts, cervical checks, phlebotomy, magnesium sulfate, blood administration, insulin, C-section circulating, and C-section recovery careEpic charting experience required or must have manager approval if lackingPreferred qualifications include ACLS, electronic fetal monitoring, inpatient obstetric certification, or inpatient antepartum certificationHighly prefer experience with Level 2 nursery or higher baby careGraduation from a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing\n Benefits\n
