Diesel Mechanic Lead

TP Freight is growing our in-house maintenance team and looking for an experienced

• Heavy Truck Diesel Mechanic Lead
• to join us. If you’re skilled in maintaining and repairing CDL equipment—including tractors, trailers, and dollys—have your own tools and have experience supervising at least one employee, we want to hear from you.
• What You'll Do
• Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, air and hydraulic brakes, suspension systems, and other Class A vehicle components.
• Service and repair trailers and dollies, including electrical systems, lighting, brakes, and structural components.
• Establish and maintain a preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for the entire fleet—tractors, trailers, and dollies.
• Complete PM inspections and services using diagnostic software.
• Work closely with junior mechanics and provide guidance and mentorship as needed.
• Accurately document work performed, parts used, and findings in maintenance logs.
• Supervise, schedule, and coordinate daily work assignments for diesel mechanics.
• Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EPA regulations.
• Order and manage parts inventory and vendor relationships.
• Monitor labor costs, ensure job efficiency, and reduce downtime.
• Implement and enforce safety protocols, shop cleanliness standards and performance standards
• What You Bring-Requirements :
• 3+ years of hands-on diesel truck and trailer maintenance experience.
• Must have own tools
• (specialty tools provided).
• Strong understanding of CDL vehicle systems and trailer maintenance requirements.
• Experience establishing or following structured PM programs.
• Ability to mentor entry level mechanics a plus!
